Things have been crazy busy recently — as in unusually busier than usual.  But, the wifey and I are starting to find a good rhythm amidst the new developments.. AND it’s been unusually sunny here in the upper left.  You know what that means…

Our weather in the upper left has been bipolar this year.  Like every other year, it seems for every glamfabsunny day we have, we have 5 more torrential downpours; but this year the moderate not-so-offensive gray days spanning the middle of the spectrum have been notably absent.  Either it’s nice, or it’s most decidedly not.

That’s meant rescheduled shoot after rescheduled shoot after rescheduled ice cream cake (you may recall, i loff cake) for us this year, and so all last week we were obsessive-compulsively watching the weather forecasts from 53 different sources to see if we might actually get a chance to hang in the sun for a change.  All the way up to Saturday morning, all sources called for rain…

…so of course, it was one of the nicest Saturdays we’ve had in a looonnnggg while.

Meet Shannon+Kevin.  They’re a great example of why we love to shoot love.  Calm, easy, and sure in each other’s presence.  They’re your friends you see frequently, and the ones that bring a smile to your face when you think of them together.  We had so much fun with them (and you don’t have to take my word for it — the wifey will be posting her own take once blogger’s done with its system maintenance), and with couples like these, who needs too many nice days?  Love — it’s like your summer’s day in May.

And what set would be complete without a slideshow?  More pictures!  Video below, or click over to our Vimeo page for some HD Shannon+Kevin action!

Cheers! — Shannon+Kevin, we can’t wait for your big day!

I’ve recently developed a chemical addiction to the offerings of Hiroki.  If you follow my instagram feed or even my Twitter or tumblr feeds, then this likely comes as no surprise to you.  You may even know had very, very, very bad it is.

I first heard about Hiroki from Diana+Jesse.  They have a Sunday ritual filled with Hiroki deliciousness, and the Sunday we shot them was no exception.  Outside of deliciousness, that Sunday was filled with more fun than Rebecca Black’s “Friday,” so in honor of them here’s some additional photos from their shoot.  In slideshow form for added awesome.

Thanks Diana+Jesse!  We’ll have to meet up soon (perhaps at Hiroki’s?)

Couples: Wai+Tatsumi

April 7, 2011

Last week, I left Chewy in charge.  Unfortunately, the lil lazy sucker didn’t accomplish much aside from running up a huge international long distance phone bill, destroying the corporate credit card, and hosting questionable social events on company property / time.

All this went down while I was out at Whistler for Tatsumi’s bachelor party.  While I can neither confirm nor deny the purported existence of possible photos from that alleged event, I am happy to say that I do have photos of Tats and his lovely fiancée Wai.

Wai and the wifey have known each other for years.  In fact, I first met Wai when I first met the wifey.  Quite a feat, seeing as how I met Cindi in Seattle (while she was in transit to LA) at a time when Wai lived in San Mateo because she worked in San Francisco.  The stars aligned somewhere between all the cities and all the (good) S words.

Thanks Wats for the fun Sunday.  Can’t wait for the wedding!

There’s a great deal of variables unknowns that we have to dance around daily as photographers.  Sunshine, wind, bold racoons, freak lightning storms, intentional or unintentional felonies.  You name it.  Especially in the upper left, you never know when you’ll encounter rabid flannel or sideways rain.

Rain has been a problem lately.

With so many ways for things to go haywire, it’s inevitable that you’ll have a shoot go “wrong.”  And if it must go wrong, I insist that you must have Ali+Tyler.

It rained on us.  Hard.  I think at the end of the day on our drive home it even hailed on us.  Did it matter?  Nah.  Because nothing phases these two, and even if the world was coming apart at it’s seams around them, you’d still feel the love as you plummet into interspatialextraterrestrial oblivion.

Thanks Ali+Tyler for being the ideal in everything less than.

You know those people that you don’t know, but you do?  I think I first met Karen almost a year ago, toward the end of the summer.  We ever-so-briefly worked not-quite-together-but-within-the-vicinity-of-each-other on a project, where we traded jokes, war stories, art projects, wedding plans.  Yes, wedding plans.  The wifey and I were nearing the end of our wedding planning, and Karen+Josh had just begun theirs.

Those of you that know me (or don’t know me) know (or don’t know) that I rarely share such personal details so readily — but Karen is just so gosh darned easy to talk to.  Dangerous.

A few months later, we crossed paths at an event, where I met Josh for the first time.  And the Mrs. met them both.  It was love at first sight.  These crazy kids are just so fun, and the world needs more of people like them.  But only if they’d hang with C+C on the regular.

in typical seattle fashion, this day started at a coffee shop. a coffee shop of luuurrvee. or coffee. perhaps just coffee.

2AM, and I’m wide awake.

OK, perhaps I should start at the beginning.

We had an AWESOME day today with Diana+Jesse.  Longtime readers may remember Jesse from such posts as this one, and Diana is his lovely wife.  We got a bright and early start to our Sunday with shots all across Seattle, which somehow concluded with unplanned frozen yogurt of spontaneity.

For those taking notes, this is where the gates of hell opened and all its VIPs broke loose to mambo.

The wifey and I have been on a bit of a restricted diet for the past couple weeks, and had cut out virtually all carbs.  This has kept our sugar intake uberlow for awhile, so upon consumption of the wonderous, magical, all-too-spectactular frozen yogurt (and toppings!…oops) today, I think our bodies didn’t know what to do with it.  I hit a fastasgical high for bit, then crashed on the couch in a coma.  For the afternoon, evening, and night.  The Mrs. too.  Aaannnn now I’m awake.  Wide awake.

It was totally worth it though.  And as I think back on the moment of weakness and reconsider whether if I were to revisit the situation again — would I do anything differently?  The answer is most certainly, hands down, no doubt about it:  Yes.  Emphatically, Yes.

I would get more yogurt, more toppings, nuts, and a king sized butterfinger.

So as I thought back over the day, I remembered how much fun Diana+Jesse were/are.  I couldn’t help but tear into the photos to pick a few to sneak peek.  I’m sure Cindi will do the same over on her blog, once the coma wears off, and we’ll toss a few onto our Facebook page (don’t forget to ‘like’ us, if you haven’t already! /end shameless plug) as well as we work though our culling and processing.

These kids are so durned cute!  And so in love, you can just see it radiate in every motion.  They’ve been married for a few years, but never got the chance to do engagement photos.  We’re firm believers that every couple should have a good set of photos to mark the start of their relationship / joint-life with.  Not for narcissism’s sake, but because as you nest nothing bring as much warmth and personalization as family photos, there’s great fun in looking back at them in later years, and the great grandkids will get a kick out of them in generations to come (I know I wish I had more photos of my parents…let alone my grandparents, great grandparents and beyond) … and, OK, for narcissism’s sake.  We’re all dead sexy in this world, every last one of us.

They may not technically be ‘engagement photos,’ but we hope they’ll bring as much excitement, and do this gorg(eous) pair justice.  We’ll have to see what the moms think…
